Antique car show, birding, seafood festival at Suffolk County Parks

Suffolk County Parks Commissioner Philip A. Berdolt invites everyone to come out and participate in the many activities or simply relax at a county park.

“We have events and activities that people of all ages and interests can enjoy,” the commissioner said. “This is a great time of year to get out and see what’s available to all residents and enjoy the natural beauty of Suffolk County.”

Here are a few events coming up this season.

The Antique Classic Car Show
July 9

If you perk up when you hear car conversations, you might be a car enthusiast. If you feel an instant bond with the person driving the same car as you, you might be a car enthusiast. If you get goose bumps when you hear a nice engine revving, you might be a car enthusiast. If you might be a car enthusiast, come on down to the Antique Classic Car Show where there will be over 100 cars from all different makes and models. If you are interested in registering your car it’s free for cars from 1942 and older and $10 for anything newer. Bring your fellow car enthusiasts and make a day of it. Summer Arts and Crafts Festival
July 22-23

Come one, come all to the Summer Arts and Crafts Festival on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm for everything craft related. For the craft savvy there are demos, for the young Picassos there are children’s crafts, for the not artistically inclined or just craft appreciators there are over 100 elegant artisans and for the people that can’t remember the last time they touched a glue gun, there is music and plenty of food. Get Wild
August 12

Are you a wildlife lover? Meet some of our furry and feathery friends at Get Wild from 6 pm to 8 pm to learn about our very own wildlife at a cocktail party. Admission goes toward the protection of injured and orphaned wildlife in our area. The rescue center it is being held at is the only wildlife hospital on Eastern Long Island. Weekend Nature Walks
August 19

See all that nature has to offer in this beautiful Nature Walk. Act fast because space is limited and you must call 631-665-4405 to be able to go and make sure to study your maps and directions! The walk is from 9:30 am to 5 pm. Come and see just how much Long Island wildlife really has to offer, it’s absolutely breathtaking.

Long Island Seafood Festival
August 26-27

Oh my Cod! It’s that time of year again for the LI Seafood Festival in West Sayville. This major event starts at 10 am Saturday and ends 7 pm Sunday. Admission is $10 per person at the gate and there will be music, vendors and of course…food! It is something the whole family can enjoy and we hope to SEA you there! Connetquot Breakfast and Birding
September 10

Did you always want to learn more about our wildlife and animals but never knew where to start? This breakfast is a perfect way for anyone to start birding here on Long Island. At 8 am the day starts with continental breakfast followed by an introduction into bird identification with then a walk where you will identify ducks and other birds at the park, which ends at 11:30 am. Suffolk County Marathon
October 29

Suffolk County Marathon to Support Our Veterans. A full and half marathon, a 5k walk/run and a four-member marathon relay will raise funds to support Suffolk County veterans. The races, which start and end in the Village of Patchogue, are accompanied by the Freedom Fest/Taste of Long Island festival, which features, wines, beers, and foods produced here on Long Island.
