A window to a broken-down car was damaged on Jan. 13 while parked on Station Road.

On Jan. 13, someone entered a home on South Country Road and stole a Michael Kors bag with a wallet, cash, IDs and credit cards.

Someone stole an iPhone 7 delivered to the front porch of a home on Station Road.

Candy was stolen from Family Dollar on Jan. 10.

A TV was stolen from a Hoffman Avenue home on Jan. 9.

Michael Tolle, 27, of Shirley, was arrested for stealing a chainsaw from Home Depot on Jan. 9.


Mastic Beach

Someone broke the rear driver side window on a 2012 Suzuki and stole a laptop, a backpack, and a textbook.



At Ocean Gas, someone stole a 24-pack of Corona beer on Jan. 13.



Four rims and tires were stolen from the Nissan Prep Center on Route 112 on Jan. 9.


East Patchogue

Someone damaged the pet access door to a home on Gazzola Drive.

Various goods were stolen from CVS on Jan. 9.

Someone stole tools from Lowe’s on Jan. 9.

On Jan. 9, makeup, keys and coins were stolen from a 2008 Kia parked on Carman Street.



Joel Rodriguez, 48, and Simon Peterson, 32, both from Patchogue, were arrested for stealing 14 items of deodorant from Walgreens on Main Street on Jan. 9.



A Deer Park woman was issued a field appearance ticket after stealing groceries from Stop and Shop on Jan. 13.

Someone stole a pocketbook with two credit cards from an unlocked Ford Explorer parked outside of Laundry Kingdom on Jan. 13.

Also on Jan. 13 in front of Laundry Kingdom, a wallet with a license and credit card was stolen from an unlocked Nissan Altima.

The window on a 2004 Jeep parked on Concord Road was shattered on Jan. 12 and a wallet, ID, and credit card were stolen.




Pedestrian killed in motor vehicle crash


Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian early in the morning of Jan. 13.

Segundo Tacuri, 58, of East Hampton, was driving a 2016 Ford Explorer southbound on Route 112, near Taber Avenue, when his vehicle struck Jose Chicas-Diaz, 34, of Patchogue, who was crossing the roadway.  The victim was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.




Woman arrested for leaving scene of crash


Suffolk County Police last night arrested a woman for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a man in Medford.

Taylor Darienzo was driving a 2015 Jeep Cherokee southbound on South Bicycle Path when the vehicle went through a red light at Granny Road at approximately 8 p.m. The Jeep then struck a westbound 2016 GMC, driven by Marisol Caprano, and an eastbound 2002 Suzuki, driven by Gregorio Paredes-Mendez, both on Granny Road. The Jeep then struck a 1987 Chevrolet, driven by Michael Biddlecomb, who had stopped the vehicle at a red light facing northbound on Old Medford Avenue at Granny Road. Darienzo fled the scene on foot and was arrested a short time later.

Paredes-Mendez, 46, of Medford, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Caprano, 42, of Farmingville, and Biddlecomb, 35, of Selden, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Darienzo, 30, of 45 Morris Ave., Lake Grove, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury and resisting arrest. She was issued six summonses for various traffic violations and had nine active outstanding warrants.

All four vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
