Someone stole assorted wires from Home Depot on Feb. 1.
Tools, including a drill, saw and nail gun, were stolen from a van parked in the driveway of a home on Scherger Avenue.
A 2012 BMW car was stolen from a home on Post Avenue.
A wallet, Beats headphones, and a driver’s license were stolen from a 2013 Honda parked on Bayview Drive.
A window was damaged on a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 on Feb. 3 parked on Pine Road.
A purse was stolen from the bleachers at Patchogue-Medford High School on Feb 1.
Someone stole cash and a flatscreen TV from a Terry Street home on Feb. 3.
Joel Rodriquez, 33, of Patchogue, was arrested on Feb. 2 for stealing two six-packs of Hanes men’s T-shirts and Irish Spring soap from Walgreens on Main Street.
Appliances, including a stove and dishwasher, were stolen from a new home on William Floyd Parkway on Feb. 1.
Two earrings were stolen from Kohl’s on Feb. 2.
Marcus Glover, 22, of Mastic, was arrested in Shirley on Feb. 3 for stealing a pair of work boots from Famous Footwear.
Also at Kohl’s on Feb. 2, sterling silver earrings were stolen.
Man arrested for Medford murder
Suffolk County Police arrested a man after he fatally stabbed a woman in Medford.
Robert Heise stabbed a 50-year-old woman during a dispute on Pinegrove Avenue, at a boarding house where they were residents, at approximately 8:55 p.m. The woman, Donna Ruisi, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead.
Heise, 42, was charged with murder 2nd degree. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash
Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Mastic on Saturday.
A woman was crossing Mastic Road at the intersection of Southaven Avenue when she was struck by a southbound 2004 Acura, knocking her to the ground, at approximately 11:53 p.m. She was then run over by a second vehicle that was traveling southbound. The second vehicle stopped briefly before fleeing the scene.
The woman, who has yet to be identified by police, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Acura remained at the scene and was not injured.
The vehicle that fled the scene was described as an older model, silver 4-door Chevrolet Impala driven by a white man. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
Man arrested for Leandra’s Law violation
Suffolk County Police arrested a man for driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law after he was involved in a two-car crash with his wife and 11-year-old son in the vehicle.
Zahirul Islam was driving a 2001 Nissan Altima eastbound on Express Drive South when he crashed into a 2016 Lexus that was traveling eastbound at approximately 8:05 p.m.
Islam, 54, of 631 Bayview Avenue, Bellport, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger (Leandra’s Law), and endangering the welfare of a child.
The 11-year-old was released to his mother at the scene. There were no injuries.
Islam was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Feb. 3.
