Floyd football endures first loss

The first and only loss for William Floyd came last weekend during the Long Island Championship, where they just missed Freeport by one point. The Long Island Class I Championship, hosted at Hofstra University, saw two undefeated teams battle in a nail-biter, with the final score 20-19. Despite quarterback Mack Driver throwing for over 250 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown pass, the Colonials were hurt by the loss of Nick Silva in the fourth quarter, who suffered an ankle injury. This is Freeport’s sixth championship, five of which came after defeating Floyd.
