Floyd secretary raises $6K

Ann Marie Salica, a secretary in the main office at William Paca Middle School, ran and completed the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 4, a 26.2 trek through all five boroughs, which takes both physical and mental strength to complete. Salica, who ran with her niece and finished with a time of five hours, 57 minutes and 50 seconds, also raised $6,000 for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, an organization dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis. This organization is near and dear to her heart, as her brother-in-law was paralyzed from the chest down as the result of a motorcycle accident in 2016. The outpouring of support after the accident was so great that it inspired her to give back and run with Team Reeve. “It was an amazing experience running in the NYC Marathon,” she said. “I will never forget the feeling of running over the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge into Brooklyn and being overwhelmed by the amount of spectators cheering for us.”
