Help at Congregational Church for government workers

Free groceries, toiletries and haircuts are or will soon be available to all government workers and their loved ones (all ages) affected by the shutdown. This offer includes nongovernment persons such as vendors, whose lives are disrupted by the shutdown. No questions asked or proof of furlough required. Discreet distribution available upon request, meaning you need not stand in line. Call 631-891-9908 or 631-475-1235.

Free Haircuts: Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 4-6 p.m. No appointment necessary.

Free Groceries: Thursdays from 9-11 a.m. (or upon appointment) from now until two weeks after the shutdown ends. This is neither a religious or political offering. The Congregational Church of Patchogue is located at 95 East Main Street.

“I received more shares on my Facebook on the furloughed workers than anything I ever posted in my life,’’ said the Rev. Dwight Lee Wolter. “People are really interested in this. It’s been a tremendous response and we are not the only place on earth concerned.”
