On 03/25/2014 at approximately 1:10 p.m., the Suffolk County Police Department, Brookhaven F.D. and South Country Ambulance were toned out for a reported Motor vehicle accident/entrapment on the Sunrise Highway service road north between River Road and Gerard Road.
Upon arrival, Brookhaven’s Bravest found a two vehicle head-on MVA involving a east bound Jeep Grand Cherokee and a west bound mini school bus (with no children on board) in which the driver of the Jeep required extrication. The male driver of the Jeep, and the female driver of the school bus were both injured and were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital by South Country Ambulance.
It was unknown what caused the driver of the Jeep to veer into the oncoming school bus. SCPD is investigating.
