If you’re a regular at Smith Point Beach over the Labor Day weekend then you know it’s that time of year when the Mastic Beach Ambulance Company holds their annual fund drive.
Known as “Beach Bagging” the Mastic Beach volunteers dedicate these three days to stand out in the hot sun and request donations from our community and those visiting our beautiful beach.
Assistant Chief Steve Barile states, “All of these donations go to Mastic Beach Ambulance to help with other community events such as Relay for Life and Smith Point Triathlon.”
Mastic Beach Ambulance covers the Village and parts of Shirley and Mastic. There are currently 80 volunteers including lifetime members. This year, twenty new members were sworn in.
