Longwood High School is proud to announce Maciej Wlodek and Jaclyn Johnson as the Class of 2017 Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively.
Maciej is a recipient of the prestigious Rensselaer Medal, a National AP Scholar, and a finalist in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Maciej serves as president of the Math Club and Quiz Bowl and is an active member of the Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, Chess Club, Protein Challenge and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society. He placed in the top five in Suffolk County and top 10 in the nation in the French National Contest. An accomplished musician, Maciej earned a perfect score for his All-State Solo for NYSSMA. He will attend Stony Brook University in the fall where he plans on pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science.
Salutatorian Jaclyn Johnson is an AP Scholar with Distinction and has achieved High Honor Roll throughout her high school career.
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Jaclyn is a member of the Quiz Bowl, Environmental Club, and Leo Club. To give back to her community, Jaclyn volunteers at a local animal shelter and has participated in the Carmens River Cleanup. Jaclyn will attend Stony Brook University where she will major in Psychology.
“Both Maciej and Jaclyn earned top honors in their class through their impressive and outstanding commitment to academic excellence,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael R. Lonergan. “They serve as excellent role models for their peers. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments and wish them well in their future endeavors.”
