MICHELE GODE TAKES HELM AT WILLIAM PACA MIDDLE SCHOOL

The William Floyd School District recently appointed Michele Gode, Ed.D., as the new principal of William Paca Middle School in Mastic Beach, NY, a school that educates 980 students in the sixth through eighth grades. Dr. Gode most recently served the district as an assistant principal at William Floyd High School from 2011-2013.During that time she also served the district in other roles including principal of the districtwide summer school program and the administrator for the Center for Interim Instruction.

Additionally, Dr. Gode has served in a variety of educational roles throughout her career including 10 years as an English teacher in the Roosevelt and Riverhead school districts, as well as a program coordinator for the Riverhead High School STAR Academy; a program designed to increase academic achievement for at-risk youth.

In her new role, Dr. Gode will lead a shared vision of learning in an effort to promote the success of every student and employee by advocating, nurturing and sustaining a school culture and instructional program that is conducive to academic success and professional growth.

“I’m excited to be here and look forward to setting a positive tone for our students and staff,” said Dr. Gode. “We have some new initiatives that we are implementing which will help prepare our students for success in high school and beyond. I look forward to a great year at William Paca Middle School.”

Dr. Gode earned her BA in English and Secondary Education at St. John Fisher College, her MA in Educational Leadership and Advanced Graduate Certificate at Stony Brook University and her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy from Fordham University. Her dissertation focused on the role of opinion leadership in the effectiveness and acceptance of alternative education programs.
