Mother, son and daughter arrested in connection with robbery pattern

Suffolk County Police have arrested a Mastic Beach woman and her two adult children in connection with seven armed robberies that occurred at Suffolk County businesses during the past month.

Attached are the mug shots of Lauren Mascia, Rick Mascia, and Deborah Salvatore, Rick Mascia, and Lauren Mascia. The three were arrested in connection with a pattern of seven armed robberies.

Rick Mascia entered Dunkin Donuts, located at 350 Middle Country Road in Coram, on October 21 at approximately 9:45 pm, displayed a knife and demanded money. The cashier opened the register and then ran toward the rear of the store. Mascia grabbed money from the register and fled. Mascia’s mother, Deborah Salvatore, was waiting for him in a car parked outside the store. Major Case Unit detectives arrested both Mascia and Salvatore at the scene. The ensuing investigation led to the arrest of Lauren Mascia, Salvatore’s daughter, and Mascia’s sister.

The three were charged in connection with the below robberies:

  • Family Dollar, located at 349 Horseblock Road in Farmingville, on September 23 at 9:50 pm.
  • Family Dollar, located at 222 Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma, on September 29 at approximately 10 pm.
  • Carvel, located at 400 Horseblock Road in Farmingville, on October 13 at 9:55 pm.
  • Carvel, located at 400 Horseblock Road in Farmingville, on October 14 at approximately 10 pm.
  • Dunkin Donuts, located at 500-11 Medford Ave. in Patchogue, on October 16 at 10:33 pm.
  • Dollar Tree, located at 3235 Horseblock Road in Medford, on October 17 at 9:43 pm.
  • Dunkin Donuts, located at 350 Middle Country Road in Coram, on October 21 at approximately 9:45 pm.

Rick Mascia, 25, of 82 Norfleet Lane, Medford, was charged with six counts of Robbery 1st Degree for all the above robberies except October 16. Deborah Salvatore, 55, of 124 McKinley Drive, Mastic Beach, was charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree for the robbery on October 21. Lauren Mascia, 31, of 124 McKinley Drive, Mastic Beach, was charged with six counts of Robbery 1st Degree for involvement in all the above robberies except October 21.

The suspects were scheduled for arraignment on October 22 at First District Court in Central Islip.
