Supervisor Ed Romaine has announced that the Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau will be holding meaningful workshops at Town Hall, located at 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville. The workshops being offered are:
Job Readiness workshops for youth ages 16 to 24 who are interested in becoming employed and learning the steps it takes to succeed. The four-session program takes place on Wednesdays from 2 to 3 p.m. beginning Jan. 30 and ending Feb. 20.
Anger Management workshops for youth ages 16 to 20 who want to learn how to cope with anger or stressors that cause you to be angry at home, in school or at work. The four-session program takes place on Fridays during the month of February from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Mindfulness workshops for youth ages 16 to 20 who want to learn more about themselves and how to be mindful of their emotions. The three-session program takes place on Fridays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on March 1, 8 and 15.
Bullet Journal/Vision Board workshops for youth ages 15 to 18 who are interested in learning how to better organize themselves in a creative way using drawing, coloring and journaling. The four-session program takes place each Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 and 26, and March 5 and 12.
All materials needed for the workshops will be provided at no cost.
“These workshops are designed to help Brookhaven’s youth both personally and professionally,” said Romaine. “I encourage students to call the Youth Bureau and reserve your seat. What you learn could help you for the rest of your life.”
“The Youth Bureau is always finding timely and creative ways to help our youth,” said councilman Michael Loguercio, the town board liaison to the Youth Bureau. “These workshops focus on a variety of subjects and undoubtedly will have a positive impact on the youth who participate in them.”
