The Town of Brookhaven held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to commemorate the official reopening of the Shirley Beach spray park. The beach now has improved landscaping, a pavilion, playground equipment and a new spray pad. The bathroom facilities will be renovated by the end of the year. In attendance was supervisor Ed Romaine, councilman Dan Panico, congressman Lee Zeldin, as well as representatives from state Sen. Tom Croci’s office, Suffolk County Legis. Rudy Sunderman’s office, and the town Parks and Recreation Department. Community members and children flanked the elected officials for the ribbon cutting. “We want more for you and your families,” Panico said. The project was made possible by a grant from New York State for $300,000, secured by Croci.
