Statement from NYS Assemblyman Dean Murray Regarding the Brookhaven Town Supervisors’ Race

Recently, my name has surfaced in news reports as a potential candidate for Brookhaven Town Supervisor, following the resignation of Mark Lesko.

While I am flattered that my party leaders would consider me for this position, at this time I am fully and completely committed to run for re-election to the New York State Assembly.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of the Third Assembly District over the past two and a half years and I look forward to continuing to work for them in the coming years.

Working together with Governor Andrew Cuomo and my colleagues in the Assembly and the Senate, we have accomplished great things – including the elimination of a $13.5-billion deficit, getting rid of significant portions of the MTA payroll tax, reducing state spending, repealing the salt water fishing tax, and providing the largest middle class tax relief package in state history.

However, there is is still much more work to be done.  I look forward to the challenges ahead, and working on behalf of my constituents as we make the Empire State the shining example for our nation.
