Colonials are playoff-bound

The William Floyd Colonials varsity baseball team is heading to the playoffs after clinching their spot in this year’s Section XI AA playoff bracket on the heels of a 13-win regular season (12-6 league), placing them fourth in League I and earning them a No. 11 seed. They traveled to No. 6 Sachem East for their first round playoff matchup on Monday and won their season series against Sachem East, defeating them in two out of three games.

“All season our team has had the approach of one game at a time. They have done a great job at working together and playing as a team,” said head coach Keith Kobasiuk. “All of our players have had specific roles on this team and they have been able to perform in those roles on a daily basis. Every day it seems that another player comes up with a big hit or play.”
