Father, fiancée arrested for death of 8-year-old boy

On Friday, Jan. 17 Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives began investigating the death of a child that occurred in Center Moriches at approximately 9:40 a.m.
Seventh Precinct police officers responded to a report of an 8-year-old boy named Thomas Valva who “fell in the driveway” of a residence, located on Bittersweet Lane. The child was transported to Long Island Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Earlier today, the Suffolk County Police arrested Valva’s father Michael Valva, 40, and his fiancée Angela Pollina, 42, both of the Bittersweet Lane home, with Murder in the 2nd Degree.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner is performing an autopsy. The investigation is continuing.
