Library to appoint trustee to vacant seat

Joseph Simmons to step down

Mastic Moriches Shirley Community Library board president Joseph Maiorana announced that a member of the board will be stepping down. 

"It is with deep regret that I inform you that the Board of Trustees of the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library has accepted the resignation of Board Trustee Joseph Simmons. Mr. Simmons has to resign from the Library Board for personal reasons. We thank him for his service to our community and wish him all the best on his future endeavors," he wrote on Facebook  

Simmons's term is scheduled to end on June  30of this year. The library will appoint a replacement who will need to run for re-election at the end of this term.

"The Board of Trustees will be accepting resumes from interested community members who would like to be considered for appointment," Maiorana said. 

The requirements to be a member of the Library Board Trustee are:

1. Must be a US citizen at least 18 years of age, and not employed by the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library.
2. Must be a qualified voter/resident of the William Floyd School District.

The Board of Trustees requests that interested parties email their resume and cover letter explaining why you
would be an asset to the Board to: krosalia@communitylibrary.org or send it to the following:

All resumes must be received by the close of business Tuesday, January 28th.

Maiorana anticipates that the chosen candidate will be appointed and sworn in at a Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees in early February.
