Man arrested for DWI following fatal motor vehicle crash

Suffolk County Police arrested a Bellport man Sunday for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Shirley.

The 40-year old man was driving a 2014 Cadillac northbound on William Floyd Parkway when his vehicle rear-ended a 2015 Ford just south of Rose Executive Boulevard at approximately 4 a.m.

The driver of the Ford, of Westhampton Beach, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Cadillac was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
