This Saturday, June 29, the splash pad at Patchogue Beach Club officially opened to the delight of children and families. The new addition, designed for children aged 12 and under, promises to be a refreshing spot for the community.

The opening ceremony, held at 11 a.m., was graced by the presence of mayor Paul V. Pontieri, who had the honor of cutting the ribbon. Pontieri expressed his excitement for the new facility and its potential to bring joy to local families throughout the summer.

In a heartfelt gesture, local priests blessed both the pool and the splash pad, wishing safety and happiness for all who use them. The event was attended by community members, with children eagerly waiting to be the first to experience the new splash pad.

The Patchogue Beach Club continues to be a cherished destination for residents, and this latest addition is sure to enhance its appeal. As the summer heats up, the splash pad is expected to be a popular spot for kids looking to cool down and have fun.

BACKGROUND

The village was the recipient of a large private grant specific to parks improvement, after which landscape architects Quennell Rothschild & Partners (PRP) were retained to develop a Patchogue Parks Master Plan. The final plan was published on July 30, 2015. QRP surveyed village residents, soliciting their opinions on new activities they would like to see. The top five most requested choices were walking paths, sailing and kayaking, shade structures, a picnic area, and a splash pad park. To date, the village has executed on four of the top five, including the new esplanade at Shorefront Park, new kayak launch, shade structures at Shorefront Park and the Beach Club and the splash pad.
