Red Door Chamber Players hosting educational program

String Quartet Program open to Suffolk county musicians

Posted

The Red Door Chamber Players have received a 2020 LI Creative Learning grant in conjunction with the Cultural Arts Committee of the William Floyd Community Summit to offer their Red Door Chamber Partners Educational Program. This program is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and administered by the Huntington Arts Council.

Inspired by time spent performing with her colleagues, Artistic Director and violinist Lisa Casal-Galietta established The Red Door Chamber Players in 2015. Many in the ensemble also balance their active performance schedules with a dedication to their private teaching studios, inspiring younger generations of musicians to share the joy of music.

The Red Door Chamber Partners Educational Program will be accepting registration applications from students across Suffolk County to be placed in string quartets: 3 youth groups and 1 adult group. All groups will receive 5 free weekly 1 hour coaching sessions from Red Door Teaching Artists, followed by a performance. Participants will be chosen based on their availability, teacher recommendation, and readiness for chamber ensemble experiences. All violinists, violists, and cellists residing in Suffolk County may apply. The coaching sessions will be held on Wednesdays from February 26–March 25, 2020, with a final performance on March 29th, 2020 at 3pm. All coaching sessions and the performance will be held at William Floyd High School.
