‘The Farm Show’ at The Storefront will charm you

Most of the 16 local artists saluting Mama Farm, Deer Run, and Early Girl farms and the HOG, as well as other nearby farmlands for “The Farm Show,” greeted visitors Friday night at The Storefront in Bellport Village. Wine, local craft beer, lemonade and small, tasty snacks were offered as owner Melissa Feldman steered folks around. There was Katia Read’s organic work, Fabian Bernal’s striking blue artistry, Jessie Hartland’s whimsical egg carton and cans with humorous farm caricatures, plus a socko HOG Farm painting.  Jay Varney’s scenes—mixed media on paper mounted on wood—were exquisite. Mark Van Wagner’s colored sand art was luminous. Catch Thaddeus O’Neil’s striking “Gold Digger” shovel. Come see the 60 renderings of your favorite neighbor artists besides those already mentioned: Lia Chavez, Tyler Healy, Rebecca Kusa, Madeline Day, Ryan Pilger, Maya Schindler, Gary Schneider, Andrew Tarlow, Mikael Levin and Larry Wohlhandler. In addition, there’s a lot to peruse on the three levels. The main floor features most of the exhibit space, with a few artworks on the upper and lower levels. Clothing, candles, jewelry and adorable ceramic pieces, including those by Katie Kimmel, Jimmy Kimmel’s daughter, can be found downstairs. The tea shop and bookstore are upstairs. Feldman’s made good use of this charming space. You can catch the exhibit until Aug. 18 at 139 South Country Road.
