Supervisor Romaine declares State of Emergency

Supervisor Ed Romaine has issued a State of Emergency in the Town of Brookhaven effective 10:00 am today, February 9 that calls for all vehicles, except for essential emergency vehicles, to be off the roads effective immediately. Vehicles that are parked in the street must be moved to driveways or be subject to towing at the owner’s expense. Any abandoned vehicles obstructing access for snowplows and emergency vehicles may also be removed by the Town.

In addition, the Town Board meeting scheduled for Thursday at 5:00 PM will be adjourned to Friday, February 10 at 2:00 pm.

Driving conditions are expected to be extremely hazardous due to the expected heavy snow accumulation. Town snow removal crews will be working throughout the day and night to clear the roads until all are safe and passable.

Residents should call 451-TOWN to report snow related issues. Call 911 for police, fire and ambulance emergencies only. To report a power outage or downed wires, call PSEG at 800-490-0075 or go to www.psegliny.com.
