Town officials honor foster grandparents for National Service Recognition Day

On April 5, Supervisor Ed Romaine (center) and Councilman Kevin LaValle (back row, third from right) honored Foster Grandparent volunteers who serve in 15 elementary schools, Head Starts, and daycare centers in the Town of Brookhaven. Each honoree was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from the entire Town Board. Supervisor Romaine and Councilman LaValle honor foster grandparents for National Service Recognition Day

The Town Hall event was in observance of National Service Recognition Day, April 3, a nationwide bipartisan effort to recognize the positive impact of national service, to thank those who serve, and to encourage more citizens to give back to their communities. This day is sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the National League of Cities, the National Association of Counties, and Cities of Service. through the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
