Brookhaven Town highway superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro and councilman Michael Loguercio have announced the completion of a paving project on Moriches-Middle Island Road, from William Floyd Parkway in Shirley to the Long Island Expressway, as well as East Main Street in Yaphank, from the Long Island Expressway to Yaphank Avenue.

“This paving project completes a three-year process in which Moriches-Middle Island Road has been completely resurfaced from Yaphank to Moriches,” Losquadro said. “A major thoroughfare in Brookhaven, its resurfacing was done in stages and has now improved safety and driving conditions for all who travel it.”

Prior to paving, crews installed 1,003 linear feet of curb, 1,129 square feet of ADA-compliant handicap ramps, 1,732 square feet of concrete sidewalk, and 2,058 square feet of aprons. In addition, two new drains were installed to alleviate flooding issues on East Main Street at a cost of $13,683. The total cost for this paving project was approximately $450,000.
