Two men killed after crash between minivan and dirt bike

Suffolk County Police are investigating a crash that killed two men in North Bellport this morning.

Seventh Precinct officers responded to a residence at approximately 7:15 a.m. for a report of a dirt bike stolen from a detached garage in Mastic Beach. Christopher Bouchard, later observed his brother’s stolen 2006 Honda dirt bike with two male occupants on it. He pursued the men and at approximately 10:15 a.m., Bouchard’s 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan and the dirt bike collided at Montauk Highway and Doane Avenue in North Bellport.  The operator of the dirt bike, Keenen King, 19, of Shirley, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The passenger of the dirt bike, Anthony Holmes-Garriques, 20, of North Bellport, was transported by South Country Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center and later transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Christopher Bouchard, 27, of Mastic Beach, who was not injured, was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree. The owner of the bike, who was a passenger in the Odyssey, Brian Bouchard, 31, of Mastic Beach, was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.

Christopher Bouchard will be held at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 23.
