WFHS Freshman Class Welcomed Former ‘Stomp!’ Performers for ‘Fun with Junk’

Mastic Beach, NY, November 8, 2018 – Recently, William Floyd High School ninth graders were treated to a riveting presentation called “Fun with Junk” by John Sawicki and Jason Mills, former cast members of the award-winning Broadway show STOMP. “Fun with Junk” is an interactive motivational presentation which involves music-making and student participation, with a message about overcoming challenges and believing in yourself. Sawicki and Mills provided the students with some valuable advice through their own personal experiences and hardships and the importance of being kind to others as the foundation of a healthy and successful life. “Fun with Junk” enables a variety of students who normally wouldn’t engage with each other to connect through music. In his presentation, Sawicki also shares the similarities of the human heartbeat and the rhythm of music. The William Floyd High School Drum Line, along with students chosen from the audience, had the opportunity to get on stage with John and Jason for some fun with junk!
