Two William Floyd High School select performance groups – “The Acabellas” under the direction of Donia Rivera, and “The Soundsations” under the direction of Barbara D’Orio – will perform this Sunday morning, March 26, at the National Choir Festival at Carnegie Hall, a gathering of the best choral music and high school choirs from across the nation. Coming together to form a new group for this event, “The Acasations” are one of only six high school performance groups from across the country and the only group from New York selected for this prestigious honor.
Both groups were selected due to their outstanding performances at the Heritage Festival last year in Williamsburg, Virginia. The performance will feature a festival chorus under the direction of maestro Dr. Jerry Blackstone and a premiere performance of a newly-commissioned piece by Composer-in-Residence, Dr. David Childs. If interested in attending, the performance will take place at 8 am on Sunday, March 26. Tickets are $25 each and are available on the Carnegie Hall website linked here.
Congratulations to these extremely talented students and their teachers!
