The William Floyd School District held its annual signing day ceremony on Friday, April 21 to recognize the 28 senior student-athletes who have been recruited and committed to play sports at the college level from the upcoming class of 2018. The student-athletes were on hand, along with parents, family members, coaches, and teachers to celebrate their accomplishments in the John Pidgeon Gymnasium at William Floyd High School.

“Less than one percent of all high school athletes in the country go on to play college sports,” said Mark Mensch, athletic director, William Floyd School District. “We have 28 athletes who have committed to play in college. That is a big accomplishment for you, a big accomplishment for parents, and a big accomplishment for the school,” he said to those in attendance.

Some of the student-athletes are receiving full scholarships and others are receiving partial packages to bring their talents to the college level. Among the student-athletes are 14 boys and 14 girls from track, lacrosse, soccer, football, baseball, softball, basketball and tennis.
