William Floyd Middle School Life Skills Students Help Beautify a Local Historical Landmark

William Floyd Middle School students from Mrs. Sharon Smith and Ms. Amy Doukas’ life skills classes have been hard at work this spring helping to prepare The Manor of St. George for their 2014 season.

The students absolutely love going on this series of community outings where they work on vocational skills, as well as work ethic, independence and the importance of helping others.

Some of the horticultural and landscaping tasks that they do there are; removing leaves from the extensive driveways, cleaning up the entrance, weeding, mulching, planting, hanging bird houses and cleaning the beach.

The teachers hope that a lot of people stop by the Manor of St. George this summer to see the incredible job that these hard working students did! The Manor of St. George is a beautiful privately owned piece of local history located in Shirley just west of the William Floyd Parkway as you are heading south towards Smith Point Beach (just south of neighborhood road).
