William Floyd Middle School recently welcomed local community leaders from Mastic, Mastic Beach, Moriches and Shirley for their third annual Community Breakfast as a way to highlight some of the school’s achievements, build upon the collaborative partnerships currently in place within the school community and thank them for their positive contributions.
In attendance were representatives from the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library, the William Floyd Community Summit, Colonial Youth & Family Services, local emergency services companies, the military, police, fire departments and elected office. The theme of this year’s breakfast was “Community Spirit: Together We Are Stronger,” which began with a performance of the National Anthem by the Select Choir. Highlighted projects highlighted include the school’s Veterans Memorial Garden, a well water fundraising project designed to bring water to an impoverished nation, the environmental club, the quail project, the new William Floyd Middle School food pantry to help those less fortunate in the community and more.
