On Friday, April 13, 2018, the William Floyd School District and the William Floyd Alumni Association have the honor of celebrating the 10th annual Distinguished Alumni Day, a special event honoring five distinguished graduates who have and continue to make a positive contribution to society.
This year’s honorees have made their marks in the fields of finance, music, law enforcement, emergency services and medicine/law. They join 44 honorees before them who have made great contributions to society in their chosen career paths and whose plaques now adorn the Distinguished Alumni wall at William Floyd High School.
This year’s honorees include: Caragh DeLuca, partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and board member, Child Care Society of Chicago, Class of 1999; Lynn (Dorfer) Green, nurse/attorney/judge, Class of 1964; Steven Januszkiewicz, paramedic/Suffolk County communications supervisor and emergency services dispatcher, Class of 1999; Matthew Klein, NYPD detective and member of the elite forensic artist unit, Class of 1999; and Gregory Williams, principal violist of the Berkshire Opera Festival/assistant principal violist of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, Class of 2002.
The honorees will visit William Floyd High School on April 13 for an in-school portion where they will have the opportunity to interact with students whose interests correlate to their occupation. Distinguished alumni will visit the Rita Rech Museum of William Floyd School District History and tour the high school to see what has changed since they attended including the addition of a state-of-the-art career and technical education facility providing opportunities for students in several academies including automotive, business, building trades & construction, cosmetology, culinary arts, medical assisting and new this year barbering and small engine repair. Honorees will be treated to a fully-catered lunch by the culinary arts students under the direction of world champion ice carver, Rich Daly.

“This marks the 10th anniversary of when we started honoring our fellow graduates who have and continue to make a difference in society,” said Jackie (Intonato) Eglevsky, President, William Floyd Alumni Association, and a 2014 Distinguished Alumna. “This class, like the nine before them, is making a difference. I say it time and again, William Floyd is a special place and our students have the potential to achieve anything.”
Past honorees hail from various aspects of society including, business, government, medicine, the sciences, entertainment, literature, the arts, athletics, music, culinary arts, technology, emergency services, law enforcement, philanthropy, education, public and community service and more. The Distinguished Alumni Dinner is scheduled for Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Bellport Country Club, 40 S. Country Road, Bellport. Tickets cost $60 per person ($30 for children ages five through 12/under four is free) with proceeds benefiting the William Floyd Alumni Association and supporting the Distinguished Alumni Award Program.
