William Paca Middle School hosts second annual Pi Day

Several William Paca Middle School teachers, along with assistant principal Lisa Pisano, recently participated in a “Pie a Faculty Member” event in honor of Pi Day, which is held each year on March 14 to celebrate Pi (Greek letter “π”) the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant – the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter – approximately 3.14.

Students had the opportunity to purchase a plate of whipped cream for $2 to throw into the face of one of the participants to support the Math Olympiads. Altogether, the event raised $484, a portion of which will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Math-a-Thon fundraiser.

Special thanks to those agreeing to get “pied” for a good cause: Robert Acierno, Marco Antenucci, Joseph Coleman, Michelle Deitch, Kevin Durant, Matthew Hansen, Dr. Christopher Kelly, Jason Melito, Lisa Pisano, Jessica Ragazzi, Thomas Sicari and Kevin Valenza.
