Winter weather advisory is in effect

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a winter weather advisory for snow which is in effect from 7 am Saturday to 1 am Sunday. This advisory is for western Suffolk County in New York and Middlesex and southern New Haven counties in Connecticut.

Expected snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches with snowfall developing Saturday morning and continuing into the evening. Hazardous travel conditions are expected due to snow covered roads and reduced visibilities. North winds will be 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. The temperature will reach the lower 20s and visibilities of 1 mile or less are possible.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
