Woman arrested for Leandra’s Law following two-vehicle crash

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Mastic woman for driving while ability impaired by drugs after she was involved in a motor vehicle crash with a child passenger.

Danielle Campione was driving a 2007 Nissan Altima when she attempted to make a left turn out of the parking lot of McDonald’s, located at 971 Montauk Highway in Shirley, and her vehicle was struck by a 2007 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling westbound on Montauk Highway. The driver of the Hyundai, Imran Shabbir, 34, of Moriches, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries. Campione and her 4-year-old male passenger were not injured.

Campione, 34, was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years or Younger (Leandra’s Law) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip tomorrow.

The child was released to a family member.
