Brookhaven Great South Bay Lions had the honor of hosting Caitlyn Michiels and her dad, Matt, at their monthly Lions Club meeting. Great South Bay Lions, through their fundraising efforts, sponsored a new guide dog and asked Caitlyn to name the puppy.
Caitlyn, a young teenager, spoke about the foundation she started, Caitlyn’s Vision. Because of her own personal journey, she started the foundation to spread awareness of the importance of children’s eye health and safety. She kindly accepted the Lions’ invitation to participate in a gender reveal party.
After cutting the cake and revealing the new puppy was a male, she announced his name would be Phoenix.
Pictured at the cake cutting are Lions vice president Kelly Berwich, Matt and Caitlyn Michiels, event chairperson Roseann Hansen, president AnnMarie Sarich, and secretary Gail Thailman Shafer.
