Mastic Beach Conservancy is excited to announce that their annual community summer party will take place on Saturday, July 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free-to-the-public event will feature live music by Brooklyn-based lovetempo. All proceeds raised during the event will go toward Mastic Beach Conservancy’s mission of preserving the more than six miles of publicly accessible waterfront parkland around the Mastic Beach Peninsula and protecting the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area.
“Bash by the Bay will be a true celebration of our community. It’s an event where people of all ages can come together to celebrate and learn about our amazing natural resources here,” said Maura Spery, president of the Mastic Beach Conservancy.
The event will have activities for kids, including a touch tank provided by The Friends of Bellport, nautical-themed crafts and a story time by The Mastic Beach Community Library, as well as other games and face painting. Food will be available for purchase from local vendors Maui Chop House, The Pudding Lady and The Good Bickle. Oysters from Violet Cove Oyster will also be available for purchase. Raffles, including one for a blow-up, stand-up paddleboard, will round out the fun.
The highlight of the event will be the late-afternoon set by lovetempo. Irresistibly danceable, lovetempo is the new project from Brooklyn-based musician, producer, and singer Mattie Safer (The Rapture, Poolside). Featuring Safer’s soft, sultry vocals and sophisti-pop sensibilities over a hypnotic blend of jazz-funk, disco, Latin percussion, and house music, lovetempo’s unique brand of lonely-hearts disco is guaranteed to move you, body and soul.
“Community is at the heart of what we do. We are of the community and for the community. This is another way for us to connect, have fun, and support a worthy cause together,” said Johnny Panessa, who serves as Mastic Beach Conservancy’s co-vice president.
The event will be held rain or shine, and will commence directly after the organization’s paddle-craft race, Race The Narrows, happening earlier that morning.
