Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a stabbing that killed a man in Bay Shore early October 15, the department said in a statement.
The statement said that Third Precinct police officers responded to a report of a stabbing on Walbridge Avenue in Bay Shore at approximately 12:05 a.m. The victim, Anthony Gilbert, was stabbed during a fight in the street, police said.
Gilbert, 24, of Bay Shore was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the stabbing to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
