Under the direction of Mr. Redding, student director Emily D., and producer Mr. Weber, the Bayport-Blue Point High School Music Department’s talented cast and crew drew packed audiences for “The SpongeBob Musical,” held in the high school auditorium on Feb. 9-11 and Feb. 8 for the community’s senior citizens.
The high school production tells the story of the citizens of Bikini Bottom and the impending volcanic eruption on Mount Humongous that could destroy their home. SpongeBob and his friends must unite to save their undersea world. The pit orchestra, under the baton of Mr. Johnson, expertly accompanied the cast vocal solos and ensembles. Additionally, under the direction of vocal music director Ms. Goloski, popular favorites including “Bikini Bottom Day,” “BFF” and the “SpongeBob Theme Song” added to the upbeat tone of the musical.
The success of the production is also due to the efforts of choreographer Ms. Maddock, assistant choreographer Ms. Hotis, sound design and execution by Ms. Edlin, lighting design by Mr. Gargiulo, and set design and construction by Ms. Smith and Mr. Coleman. Ms. Hotis was responsible for the production’s costuming, while Ms. Giallanza oversaw hair and makeup.
