First trip to county championship since 2010

In a rematch from a game two weeks ago, the Clippers lost in a 24-21 thriller Saturday night at Alumni Stadium in West Islip.

After falling behind by three with under seven minutes to play, Bellport responded with a 60-yard touchdown to retake the lead. However, with 24 seconds left, Lions’ quarterback Joseph Constantino threw a game-winning a 14-yard touchdown to Nolan Walters.

The game marked the end to a most unusual of high school football seasons on Long Island. Due to COVID restrictions, football was moved to a condensed spring season, with no Long Island Championships being played due to traditional spring sports beginning in a few short weeks. This is the first year since 1992 without Long Island champs being crowned.
