Colonials continue to dominate!


The first-place William Floyd boys’ varsity basketball team continues to roll in their undefeated season as they defeated Patchogue-Medford by a score of 90-53. With the win, the Colonials improve their League I record to 7-0 and overall record to 11-0—both best in Suffolk County.

Congratulations to head coach Will Slinkosky, assistant coaches Thomas Stines and Darrell Sumpter, and the talented student-athletes on another big win and the tremendous success so far this season. 

In their latest weekly rankings, the New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA) ranked William Floyd boys’ varsity basketball 23rd in Class AAA. The Colonials are getting the respect they have earned—being recognized as one of the best high school teams in the state.

Dahmarion Moses led the Colonials with 21 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks against Patchogue-Medford (7-3) in Suffolk I. Joey McLaurin added 21 points, six rebounds and five assists. Jermaine King had 14 points and six assists and Jawuan Smith had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks.

Floyd beat Brentwood 69-66 on Tuesday, Jan. 17. They are now 12-0 (8-0 in League I).
