Come and celebrate CEED’s open house

That’s CEED board chair Tom Pelletier encouraging folks to attend their Open House on Sunday, May 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. For the first time, the Center for Environmental Education and Discovery building is open to the public. The first floor, specifically Woodland Hall, formerly known as The Great Hall West, will show off its new entryway, light-green paint, 21 new windows, and repaired ceilings and walls. The installation of a $35,000 fire detection system throughout the old Washington Lodge as well as the fire marshal approval, required before public access, is now complete. Come and meet board members and staff, learn about their northern bobwhite quail babies currently incubating, and other programs. At 8:30 p.m., a special lunar eclipse program led by Dave Bush, an astronomer with the Vanderbilt Planetarium, will take place. Please note: While the open house is free, there is a charge for the lunar eclipse program. CEED is located at 287 South Country Road, Brookhaven.
