On June 8, Legis. Dominick Thorne and the Patchogue Knights of Columbus teamed to give a long overdue thank you the 5th Precinct crossing guards at a ceremony held at Post 425 of the Knights of Columbus in Patchogue.
“The crossing guards of our county are an amazing group of dedicated professionals who keep our community and children safe during the most difficult environmental and challenging weather,” Thorne said. “From wind to rain to freezing and steaming temperatures, they never fail.”
Each participant was offered a free lunch sponsored by Suffolk County PBA and a certificated from Thorne for their dedication and professions. Also on hand was Suffolk County 5th Precinct inspector Doughty, Michele O’Connor from Suffolk AME union, Officer DeNicola from PBA and the Grand Knight Joe Fontana, along with members of the knights.
As for the crossing guards who were unable to attend, a certificate was sent to the 5th Precinct to be distributed.
