Local libraries are a great place to spend time during the summer. They’re a place to cool off, relax, and enjoy some great programming. The West Islip Library has great educational and fun events for children and adults alike. Here are just some of the great upcoming events. Ocean of possibilities, summer reading 2022, July 5-Aug. 22
Relax and read this summer to earn chances in winning gift cards to local businesses such as The Chef’s Table, Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks, Brownstone’s and much more. Read up to eight books by Aug. 22 and for each book you read, fill out a review, turn it in at the reference desk and receive a raffle ticket to enter our gift card prizes. Register on or after July 5 and receive a goody bag. West Islip residents only.
The Chiclettes, Thursday, Aug. 4, 7 p.m.
This event will feature tributes to female artists throughout the decades.
Weekly knitting and crochet group, every Wednesday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

In this workshop packed with fun writing prompts, word games and exercises, you will get the inspiration and tools you need to jump-start your fictional genre novel or screenplay. Learn how to combine different genres to create an exciting and original story.
Catholic Health Community Bus, Thursday, July 28, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
The Catholic Health Community Bus will be in the library parking lot to do a quick health screening for you. They will check your blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol, and answer any basic questions you may have about your health. Registration not required.
National Book Lovers Day book sale, Tuesday, Aug. 9, 10 a.m.- 8 p.m.
Everything is 50 cents. Purchase hardcovers, paperbacks, adult and childrens books as well as CDs, audiobooks and DVDs.
