On Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, after months of planning and preparation, Sayville High School welcomed hundreds of guests to the annual Every Child’s Dream Community Holiday Dinner.
Held at the high school since 2010, the event invites children and families to experience “a little Christmas” they might not otherwise have. The entire school is transformed into a “winter wonderland,” with every school club and organization participating.
“I am so proud of our students and staff, who dedicate their time and effort to bring smiles, joy, and happiness to so many children and families,” said superintendent of schools, Dr. Marc Ferris. “This truly is one of the most heartfelt and impactful events on Long Island.”
Anchor Club advisor Tracey Trentowski praised the students for their exceptional dedication and compassion in their volunteer work for Every Child’s Dream.
“Members worked diligently to sort and organize clothing to ensure the boutique was well-stocked and welcoming for families,” Trentowski said. “This event reflects the core values of our club, emphasizing the importance of service to others.”
About Every Child’s Dream
Every Child’s Dream Community Holiday Dinner, which gives children and their families “a little Christmas” they might not otherwise experience, was conceived and launched in 2005 by the late Ken Mangan. Mangan recognized the limitations of public assistance for the homeless and economically disadvantaged in the community and felt compelled to act. Two not-for-profit organizations—Every Child’s Dream, founded by Mangan, and Christmas Magic, founded by Charlie Russo—joined forces to create the holiday dinner. After Mangan’s passing in 2019, both nonprofits have continued his extraordinary legacy of service. Karen Mangan and her family remain an integral part of the event each year.
