Fire districts throughout the Town of Islip and Town of Brookhaven will hold their annual elections on Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 3 to 9 p.m.
The candidates in each fire district who receive the most votes will be elected fire commissioner for that district for a five-year term (see exceptions).
Only those registered with the Suffolk County Board of Elections before the 22nd day before the fire district’s election are eligible to vote.
Bayport
Incumbent Lawrence Hamrlicek will run for a second term as commissioner unopposed.
Blue Point
Eric Ferraro, who is a past chief, will run unopposed.
Bohemia
Incumbent Frank Nuzzio, who has served since 2009, is running unopposed.
Holbrook
Cornelius Heffernan will run unopposed for a one-year term after being appointed following a commissioner’s move out of state.
Christian Heinssen will run unopposed for a five-year term after being appointed following a commissioner’s death.
Sayville
Incumbent Donald R. Hodgkinson will run unopposed.
West Sayville
Incumbent Gary A. Schaum will run unopposed.
