Floyd alumnus joins Blue Angels Maintenance Support Team

Cody Farrell, a 2014 William Floyd alumnus, has gone from the halls of his alma mater and serving his school community as a member of the award-winning NJROTC program to serving as an aviation structural mechanic petty officer second class (AM2) with the U.S. Navy’s elite Blue Angels, a flight demonstration squadron that showcases the teamwork and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Farrell will serve as a member of the Blue Angels Maintenance and Support Team. At William Floyd, Farrell was a four-year member of the NJROTC program, achieving the rank of ensign during his senior year and selected by his instructors and peers as a platoon leader. Now, Farrell’s military service has brought him to the elite Blue Angels, where he was recommended for Blue Angel duty by his current commanding officer as one cannot apply and must be recommended. All who are recommended must complete an extensive screening and interview process with the members of each of the 15 squadron work centers. Farrell plans to make the military a career because it has allowed him to experience many things and grow in ways that he did not think were possible.

“I’ve been to many different places on the Navy’s behalf and am extremely thankful for the opportunities that I have been afforded to take part in,” he said. Farrell also looks forward to his service as a member of the Blue Angels Maintenance and Support Team.
