Doing Something About It Inc. will hold its sixth annual Cultural Empowerment Event on March 2 at the Bellport Boys & Girls Club from 4 to 7 p.m.
The event comes during Women’s History Month and will feature a “Sista to Sister” panel discussion in which prominent women will talk about their life and career and take questions from the audience.
The panelists scheduled to appear include South Country School District Board president Cheryl Felice and former Brookhaven Town Board member Valerie Cartright.
The event will also include poetry readings, food, and performances by Bellport Youth Cheer and Butterfly Effect Project from Riverhead, said event organizer Baron Permenter, Doing Something About It Inc. founder and executive director.
The event is free to attend. Attendees are asked to bring two canned food items, which will be donated to the Lighthouse Ministry.
