Girls lax team improves record to 3-1

Sayville Golden Flashes girls varsity lacrosse perpetuated their domination in their spring 2025 campaign after shellacking the Miller Place Panthers last Tuesday, April 8. 

Fifty-four seconds into the contest, Morgan Farrell heaved one through the mesh to commence the offensive power surge and it was 1-0.

Sixteen seconds later, Sofia Cangelosi netted a score to make it 2-0, then nailed another goal under a minute later. Dylan McNamara heaved one between the pipes at the eight-minute mark of the opening period, and four minutes in, it was 4-0 Sayville.

A plethora of goals accelerated as they poured it on, consisting of another goal by McNamara and Cangelosi and a score by Carly Cangelosi.

The Golden Flashes led 9-2 at the end of the first quarter. In the opening minute of the second, Abby Galaris scored, Olivia DeSimone heaved one through the mesh with just under three gone in the second frame, Leah Babcock tallied a score, and just prior to halftime, freshman Sienna Lahman tacked on Sayville’s third goal of the afternoon, and it was 13-3 at the end of 24 minutes.

In the third quarter, Grace Jabour scored, and later on Morgan Farrell scored her third goal of the day and it was 15-4 at the end of three.

The final score was Sayville 16, Miller Place 4. The Golden Flashes improved their record to 3-1 and played Eastport-South Manor on Monday and Rocky Point on Tuesday and will trek out east on April 19  for a 10 a.m. Saturday morning contest at Westhampton.
