St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church has rebranded their annual fundraiser festival this year with the launch of OPA FEST, an expanded three-day celebration of Greek culture, food, music, and community. The event will take place on the church’s grounds on Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28 at 77 Montauk Highway in Blue Point.
Formerly known as the church’s traditional Greek Festival, “OPA FEST introduces a refreshed identity and an enhanced event experience designed to welcome a broader audience while honoring the rich traditions of Greek heritage,” said organizers. “With a focus on energy, culture, and community, OPA FEST brings together authentic Greek cuisine, live music, traditional dancing, artisan vendors, family-friendly attractions, and new interactive experiences in one vibrant festival setting.”
Guests can enjoy a wide variety of authentic Greek food and desserts, including festival favorites like gyros, souvlaki, pastries, and Mediterranean specialties. The highlight of the festival is its beloved dessert Loukoumades.
Throughout the weekend, the OPA Stage will feature live Greek music and traditional Greek dancing, creating an energetic and immersive cultural experience for attendees of all ages.
New this year, OPA FEST will feature The Agora Market, a curated vendor marketplace showcasing handcrafted artisan goods, specialty retail products, and unique small businesses. Also, the event will feature, for the first time, a fireworks show to take place on Saturday, June 27 at 9:30 p.m., sponsored by Islip Cold Beer, said members of the church.
OPA FEST is designed to be a family-friendly event with activities for all ages. The festival will include a dedicated Kids Zone and Interactive Area, featuring a bounce house, crafting activities, face painting, glitter tattoos, fairy hair, henna, permanent jewelry, axe throwing, and more.
