New Village tree lighting, Friday, Dec. 1

New Village will be hosting their Christmas tree lighting on Pontieri’s Way on Friday, Dec. 1 from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Bellport’s Breakfast with Santa, Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m.

The event will be held at the Community Center. Tickets are $10 per person, and those interested in attending can call Bellport Village Hall at 631-286-0327 for details.

Bellport Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade, Saturday, Dec. 2 

The parade will start at the Bellport Fire Department at 6 p.m. and proceed to the Community Center. The annual holiday tree lighting will take place at the gazebo on the Village Green across from the Community Center, just after the parade.

Children can come with their letters to Santa and a table will be set up with some of Santa’s helpers to assist the children in writing their holiday wish, and it will be placed on the Wish Tree in the gazebo.  Mayor Maureen Veitch will make sure the letters and wishes will be sent to Santa courtesy of the North Pole. 

Books will also be given out by the Bellport Teacher’s Association and hot chocolate will be provided courtesy of Avino’s Italian Table. 

Officials at Village Hall said the tree lighting is a special event in the village because it is a small, intimate event that provides a true “hometown” feeling. 

Annual wreath contest, December

Wreaths from the Bellport Village’s annual wreath contest will adorn Main Street’s poles and other areas throughout Bellport Village’s Business District, each hand-decorated by dozens of residents and their families. Judging will be done by a special committee and three prizes will be awarded. Winners will be notified by email and/or phone.

Brookhaven Town Menorah Lighting, Thursday, Dec. 7

The town will host their annual menorah lighting at Brookhaven Town Hall, 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and will feature entertainment, hot latkes and doughnuts.

Town Toy Drive, Friday, Dec. 8

Brookhaven Town will be hosting their annual toy drive with all sizes, JVC radio stations broadcasting live from Town Hall. Please bring new, unwrapped toys for a child in need.

Bellport Menorah Lighting, Thursday, Dec. 7

The first light will be lit on the menorah to celebrate Hanukkah. For more information on holiday events go to bellportvillageny.gov.

Patchogue Menorah Lighting, Saturday, Dec. 9

Temple Beth-El asks the community to join them in prayer and song at the lighting of the menorah at Capital One Plaza on Main Street on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m.

Magic Reindeer Food pick-up, Saturday, Dec. 16

The Patchogue Parks & Rec Department will be hosting a reindeer food pick-up at 380 Bay Avenue from 10 a.m. to noon. Also, don’t forget to drop off your Santa letters!

Candy Cane Santa Run, Sunday, Dec. 17

The Bellport Fire Department will be taking Santa for a tour of the community to hand out candy canes starting at 10 a.m. The department will bring Santa through all of its districts to visit families.

Patchogue Fire Department Santa Detail

The fire department will be taking Santa around the northwest area on Dec. 15 and 16; the northeast area on Dec. 17; the southeast area on Dec. 21 and 22; and the southwest area on Dec. 23. Rain dates include Dec. 18, 19 and 20.

Patchogue’s Holiday Shop and Stroll, Thursday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 10

The Greater Patchogue Chamber will be hosting two Patchogue Holiday Strolls on Thursday, Dec. 7, 5-8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 10, 12-3 p.m. There will be carolers, refreshments, special deals, and entertainment.

Also, metered parking will be suspended this holiday season on Main Street from Dec. 13 to Dec. 25 and in the Oak Street, Terry Street, New Village and Church Street parking lots from Nov. 23 to Dec. 25.

Kris Kringle Mingle, Wednesday, Dec. 13

The Harbor Crab Co. will be hosting their 19th annual Kris Kringle Mingle at the restaurant, located on Division Street in Patchogue. All proceeds will benefit the Kris Kringle Foundation. Shades of Blue Christmas, Sunday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.

The Congregational Church of Patchogue will be hosting an event for those not so merry and bright with a one-hour candle lighting, silence, solace, hope, peace, prayers, joy and healing. All are welcome; 95 East Main Street in Patchogue.

Girl Scouts Holiday Light Show & Enchanted Forest

This year, all of the magic is happening at the Enchanted Forest at Southaven County Park, Yaphank. See the lights up close as you walk through their over 1/4-mile trail—4 times bigger than last year—filled with displays. Take photos at special areas and hang out in the Chill Zone to warm up by fire pits, enjoy giant lawn games, and don’t forget to visit Santa for a photo! Midnight on Main, Sunday, Dec. 31

The New Year’s Eve Celebration will happen on Sunday, Dec. 31 at the intersection of West Main Street and West Avenue. The party starts at 7 p.m. There will be a D.J., hot cocoa, food, free party hats and noisemakers. The ball will rise at Patchogue’s “midnight” at 9 p.m.
